Catalina State Park Again

We love going to Catalina State Park down in Tucson, AZ. This time the park was pretty empty, the snowbirds have flown home for the summer.

We met a wonderful family from Gilbert, AZ, who were camping at the state park for the first time. They had two girls, ages 7 and 4, which made for great playing companions for my children.

We took my girls on their first big hike, it was about 4 miles round trip. We met a gentleman who apparently hikes the trial a lot, he stated he has seen many rattlesnakes on the trail. I am not afraid of snakes, however, when there is a dog and two of my children involved, my senses of protection became high. Yes, I know we live in the desert and rattlesnake live in the desert, but again the dog and kids. The good news is we did NOT see any rattlesnakes this time around. Maybe next time. We did come across what we think was a tarantula hole.

Mother nature sure put on a show with her sunset!!!
