Special Stop

As we headed back to Phoenix, we made a special stop to see my best friends parents. It was a quick stop, but we sure did catch up on all news of the year.

Cousins, Cousins, Cousins

All three cousins got together for a big play date and sleepover. The girls are 4 years, almost 3 years and 2 1/2 years old. There was a lot of activity by everyone. We went to the Irvine Train park and rode the train, played at the playground and followed the trail around the park. There was even time for some swimming.

What a great time for everyone!!

Auntie's House on Palomar Mtn.

The girls and I headed to Palomar Mtn for a quick visit with Auntie. As we drove up the mountain, the fog was so dense it became almost impossible to drive. Daughter #2 tried to blow the fog away, very cute.

While at Auntie's house we went for a hike and swung on any and all swings we found along the trail. We ate a the vegetarian restaurant and visited with the locals. Both girls insisted they sleep up high in the loft, that was scary for me. We all managed to get some sleep, most nights.

The last night we ate at Uncle-to-be's house, he served venison for the adults and hot dogs for the girls. I will have to say for never eaten venison, it was delicious. He was the "hostess with the mostest".

Balboa Park

The girls and I met my aunt for an afternoon at Balboa Park. This is my favorite place just to walk around. We did not go into any of the many museums, however we did take the free trolley around the park.

I could go to Balboa Park everyday and see something new.

Morning in Coronado

The girls and I did a morning trip over to Coronado. The girls loved going over the BIG bridge! The weather was cool and overcast. We played on the docks and walked over to where one could pick up the ferry. I had forgotten my wallet in the truck, otherwise we would have taken the round-trip ferry. Instead, the girls played in the water and sand. There are some amazing views of San Diego from Coronado!

McDonald's with Great Grandparents

Great Grandpa suggested that we venture out to McDonald's for dinner. I thought he was kidding, but he was not. He wanted to watch his great grand-daughters eat happy meals and play on the equipment. I could not guess when the was the last time the great grandparents had been to a McDonald's!! Everyone enjoyed their meal and Great Grandpa got us all apple pies for dessert.

Congrats on Graduating!!

My nephew graduated from high school. It was a long and hard process, but he did it. We are all very proud of his accomplishment. He is planning on attending the local Jr. college in the fall.

Birch Aquarium

I took the girls to Birch Aquarium in La Jolla, CA. There was a lot of hand-on activities for them to do and great sea life on display to see.

Making Lemonade with Great Grandpa

There is a lemon tree in my grandparents backyard, that has been there as long as I can remember.

While in San Diego, Daughter #1 picked way too many lemons off the tree. Great Grandpa had a great idea....make lemonade. He got out the squeezer, cut all the lemon in half, and let Daughter #1 squeeze the juice. I asked if he needed a recipe to make lemonade, of course he declined. The first glass went to Great Grandpa for a taster....she liked it. The second glass to me....way to bitter, in went more sugar. The end result was some nice refreshing glass of lemonade.
