School got out on May 23rd for summer vacation. Saturday, May 25th the girls and I left for our vacation of a life time. We were going to drive across the country!! We would be staying at Kozy Kabins at KOAs.
Our first stop would be Santa Fe, NM, where we stayed with a relative for 3 days. We went for a mini hike, got a tour of Ten Thousand Waves, http://tenthousandwaves.com/ , got to hang out with horses and visit a military cemetery on Memorial Day.
Our second stop was El Reno, OK KOA. Yes, you read it right El Reno. The first tornado hit a week prior near there and luckly the KOA was not hit. There was destruction just off the highway, which the girls got to see first hand. On a lighter note, we stayed in a two bedroom, it had 2 sets of bunk beds and one queen bed. It was right on the lake. The front porch had a two person swing. Some of the amenities were a pool, workout area, playground and a kangaroo jumper. It was just 3 day later that another tornado hit the town of El Reno. http://koa.com/campgrounds/el-reno/
Third stop was North Little Rock, AR. http://koa.com/campgrounds/little-rock/I have always wanted to go to Little Rock, since it was my grandpa's home town. We stayed in a one room kabin, with one set of bunk beds and queen bed and best of all a flat screen tv with cable. The girls are excited because we were able to watch the Disney channel. Some of the amenities were teather ball, pool, playground, and an ice cream parlor.
Fourth stop Crossville, TN. http://koa.com/campgrounds/crossville/ There was a slight problem when we checked in, we had booked a room that only had two twin beds. We they were able to upgrade to another room in the lodge. We had a set of bunk beds, queen bed, flat screen tv, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and a BATHROOM/SHOWER!!! This is the first Kabin that we had our own bathroom in the room. I was amazed by Tennessee and the views The amenities included a walking trail around the pond, playground, a huge playroom, pool, rabbits and skunks. In the morning in the main hall they had breakfast and coffee.
We arrived in North Carolina, at Heather's house, for our 2 week stay. Stay tuned for more updated about our stay here.
Final destination will be Leesburg, VA to stay with my aunt and uncle.
